Kevin McGeever Sentenced for ‘Wasting Garda Time’
Mayo born property developer and serial con man, Kevin McGeever, has been given a two year sentence suspended for five years, for ‘wasting Garda time’. McGeever was aged 71 at time of sentencing in April 2016. He entered a guilty plea just before this trial was due to begin at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.
The court was told that McGeever fabricated a story of being kidnapped in a bid to rid himself of Irish and international creditors. These creditors had lost large amounts of money in ‘investments’ he claimed to be developing in Dubai. It transpired that McGeever had been selling the same unit to many investors and, in many cases, the units didn’t even exist.
