‘Entrepreneur’ Tag Abused in Property Circles
This is just a quick observation, I won’t bore you with a long rant.
Essentially, it grates quite a bit when I hear or read the word ‘entrepreneur’ bandied about for every developer and property agent. To be honest, a lot of people who were no more property developers than myself and should never have been near the industry flocked to what they saw as a way to make easy money during our long since vanished ‘Celtic Tiger’ years.
Solicitors, Accountants, Farmers and others piled into a market where it was felt that vast amounts of money could be made with very little effort. I don’t get that this counts as entrepreneurialism in any way. It was driven, in the main, by greed and fed by a banking system that had lost all sense of accountability.
Then I guess calling someone a ‘greedy so and so’ rather than an ‘entrepreneur’ in an article on how the now chastened banks are chasing them for every penny owed would be rubbing salt into the wounds somewhat.
An entrepreneur should, in my opinion, bring something new and – well entrepreneurial or enterprising to a business – rather than just follow like a sheep something that someone else has done successfully already.
There we go, chest unburdened. The joys of a blog.
